Croatia is a treasure chest destination, filled with national parks, awe-inspiring scenery, rich culture, and cuisine known for flavour - you'll never find a place anything quite like this! Boasting ten UNESCO World Heritage Sites, an expedition to Croatia is packed with adventure as team will trek through the National Parks of Plitvice and Paklenica, kayak along the Zrmanje River, and step back in time as they are surrounded by Roman architecture.


During a Croatian adventure, teams will journey from west to east, meeting the coast at Starigrad and continuing on to Split, allowing young explorers to take in as much as possible this wonderful country has to offer.

What are the highlights?

  • Visit two of Croatia's stunning national parks, Plitvice and Paklenica. Both are wildly different in their terrain with Plitvice National Park's lush vegetation and flowing waterfalls contrasting with Paklenica National Park's caves and towering cliffs
  • Explore the capital, Zagreb, and the ancient capital of Split on the Dalmatian Coast
  • Kayak through canyons to discover hidden pools and waterfalls along the Zrmanje River
  • Tick three UNESCO World Heritage Sites off your list - Diocletian's Palace in Old Town Split, Plitvice National Park, and Paklenica National Park
  • Day 1 - Arrive in Zagreb

    Fly to the Croatian capital, Zagreb and transfer to a local hostel. Spend the afternoon exploring the city's many museums, Lotrščak Tower, or immerse your senses in the central market and botanical gardens.

  • Day 2 - Plitvice Lakes National Park

    After breakfast, transfer to Croatia's largest and oldest national park and UNESCO World Heritage 

    Site, Plitivce Lakes National Park. This karst landscape is filled with glassy lakes, meadows, woodland, and crashing waterfalls. Explore the parks trails that wind around the park's 16 lakes whilst spotting birds of prey, deer, and lynx. Overnight at a nearby campsite.

  • Day 3 - Kayak on the Zrmanja River

    Travel south to the coastal town of Starigrad and check in to a local hostel. Spend the morning exploring the town and beach before heading out of town for your next adventure. In the afternoon, you will be kayaking on the Zrmanja River and discover its canyons, hidden pools, and waterfalls. Return to Starigrad for the evening.

  • Day 4 - Paklenica National Park

    Make the short journey to Paklenica National Park - another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Uniquely, the park is considered a UNESCO site as it forms part of the Carpathians, the largest World Heritage Site in Europe spanning 12 different countries. Paklenica is often called the most beautiful place in Croatia and is filled with dramatic caves, emerald canyons, and diverse wildlife. Trek to Paklenica Mountian Hut, exploring Manita Peć Cave and the park's largest canyon, Velika Paklenica, along the way. Overnight at the hut.

  • Day 5 - Split and the Dalmatian Coast

    Trek out of the national park to meet your transport. Transfer to the Dalmatian coast and the historical city of Split. With its beginnings firmly placed in history as the retirement palace of Roman Emperor Diocletian, walking through Old Town is like stepping back in time! Another UNESCO Site, you can explore the city's palace, stroll along the Riva Promenade, or climb the steps of Marjan Hill to a viewpoint over the city.

  • Day 6 - Say goodbye to Croatia and return home

    Say goodbye to the wonders of the Dalmatian coast and head to the airport for your flight home.
